HAMBURG, Pa. - Firefighters were called to Hamburg Area High School Friday night, but there wasn't a fire.
Smoke alarms went off throughout the building and firefighters say there was an odor throughout the school.
After some investigation, firefighters found the cause of the smell.
"We searched through and never at any time did we have any active or open fire, but we traced everything down to an air handler unit which then traced us back to a light ballast in one of the upper lights in the cafeteria," said Chief Troy Hatt, the Hamburg Fire Chief.
Hatt says the school's maintenance crew was already on hand replacing the ballast last night.
He said school will be open for business on Monday.
