Ryan Hughes joined the 69 News: Berks Edition as a Reporter in December 2011.
Ryan comes to WFMZ-TV from Salisbury, Maryland where he spent two years as a Reporter and Fill-In Anchor for WMDT 47 News. While in Salisbury, Ryan covered some of the most high-profile trials to ever hit the Eastern Shore. Ryan was in the courtroom when a former Lewes, Delaware pediatrician received 14 life sentences for sexually abusing scores of his patients, and when Derrick Powell was sentenced to death in the killing of a Georgetown, Delaware police officer. While at WMDT, Ryan's work was recognized by the Chesapeake Associated Press Broadcasters Association for a human interest piece called "Project Playground."
Ryan graduated from the University of Miami with majors in Broadcast Journalism and Geography. While in college, Ryan interned with the CBS affiliate WFOR-TV in Miami, and the CBS affiliate KYW-TV in Philadelphia. Ryan was also involved with the University's station, UMTV. He anchored the newscast, "Newsvision." Ryan is also a member of the National Broadcasting Society.
While he is not chasing after breaking news, Ryan enjoys summer time, going to the beach, running, playing tennis and traveling as often as possible.
Born in Delaware County, PA, Ryan is excited to report for 69 News: Berks Edition. If you have a story you would like Ryan to cover, send him an email at Ryan.Hughes@wfmz.com.
