Tom De Martini began his journalistic career at the tender age of 17 in the sports department of the Asbury Park Press in Asbury Park, N.J.
Since then, Tom's career has spanned everything from covering Wall Street's daily gyrations for Dow Jones Newswires to the 1999 Kentucky Derby and many runnings of the Belmont Stakes for the Kentucky-based Thoroughbred Times' magazine and web site.
Tom was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., but moved to Monmouth County, N.J. during his formative years, always fascinated by news reporting. He still considers the New Jersey shore, where the majority of his family still lives, as home.
A self-described "news junkie," Tom has worked for several New Jersey-based newspapers, including the Newark Star-Ledger, and served a stint as business editor for Cable World Magazine.
Tom landed in the Lehigh Valley in 2001 and worked for The Morning Call's weekly newspaper for two years before shifting to freelance work covering high school sports and municipal news. His most recent stint was as a local editor for AOL's Patch online local news sites in the Lehigh Valley.
Tom is a 1979 graduate of Middletown (N.J.) High School North and a 1983 alumn of Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) where he studied Journalism and English.
In his spare time, Tom enjoys following Thoroughbred horse racing, getting back in touch with old friends and an annual trip to Las Vegas.
Tom lives in west Allentown with his wife Mary and two felines, Emily and Hope.
