Weather Forecast Discussion

A few showers or a t-storm around late tonight

Record-challenging warmth on Saturday

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy and mild with some showers or a t-storm around late. Low: 62

SATURDAY: Some sun with record-challenging warmth and a shower or thunderstorm around, mainly in the afternoon. High 85

SATURDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy and mild. Low: 57

Mostly sunny skies and high temperatures near 80 degrees is how the area ended the work week on Friday. The mild temperatures will stay in place overnight with temperatures falling into the low 60s, but the mainly clear skies won't and neither will the dry conditions. First up, look for the clouds to increase this evening and then for some showers and a thunderstorm to move in after midnight. The showers and/or thunderstorm won't amount to much and will taper back by daybreak on Saturday.

Saturday will be another extremely warm day. In fact, with temperatures extending into the mid 80s they may actually come close to record highs in spots, like Allentown where the record is 86 set back in 1974 and in Reading where 88 is the record set back in 1970.  Otherwise, Saturday should feature some sun with mainly dry conditions. However, a stray shower or thunderstorm can't be ruled out, especially in the afternoon. A backdoor cold front will then knock Sunday's high temperatures back into the seasonable mid 60s with considerable cloudiness and a shower around, mainly in the afternoon and at night.

Temperatures will bounce back into the 80s on Monday ahead of the next cold front. Most of the day appears to be dry before the cold front starts pushing showers and a thunderstorm into the area late in the day and at night on Monday. A lingering shower may still be around first thing Tuesday morning, but they will quickly exit to the east and the day will continue to improve after that. Temperatures on Tuesday will reach into the low 70s.
