Walmart plans to build the company's largest online fulfillment center in Bethlehem.
Walmart officials said Tuesday the retailer was planning to open a new fulfillment center in Bethlehem.
The center will support the company's growing e-commerce business, which is expected to see sales of more than $10 billion globally this year.
The new one-million square foot facility will be the company's largest, and will employ up to 350 fulltime workers, . It will be dedicated to filling the company's online orders.
"Walmart's announcement today represents more than 350 good, well-paying jobs for people of the Lehigh Valley and we congratulate them on their choice of Pennsylvania for this critical expansion," said Governor Tom Corbett. "As Walmart moves forward with expansion of its e-commerce business we will be a partner in ensuring Pennsylvania and the Lehigh Valley remain a continued part of that growth."
The facility is set to open in the first quarter of 2014 and will be located at 2785 Commerce Center, just off Route 412.
Walmart will also open a new fulfillment center in Fort Worth, Texas.
