Weather Forecast Discussion

Temps soar into the 60s on Saturday

Chillier and brisk with a bit of rain on Sunday

TONIGHT: Partly to mostly cloudy; temps holding steady or slowly rising. Low: 44

SATURDAY: Warmer with clouds and limited sunshine; a brief afternoon shower or two. High: 65

SATURDAY NIGHT: Cloudy with a little rain or drizzle. Low: 42

Temperatures below 32 degrees and rain late Friday morning into the early afternoon brought some slick spots to areas north of the Lehigh Valley. Thankfully the rain was light and most of the area was above freezing by the time it moved in, so there weren't any widespread issues. In the wake of the rain, we saw brightening skies Friday afternoon as temperatures topped out near 50 degrees.

The milder air will stay with us overnight as hold relatively steady or slowly rise, especially as daybreak nears. Otherwise, partly to mostly cloudy skies will take us into the weekend.

Saturday will be the warmest day we've seen in more than two weeks as highs extend into the 60s. The day won't feature a whole lot of sunshine though and as the afternoon rolls around there may be a few brief showers passing through. There's no doubt that Saturday will be the better of the two weekend days weather-wise, because a backdoor cold front will make Sunday cloudier, brisk and chillier with the threat of rain around most of the day. That doesn't mean it will be raining all day long on Sunday, but what it does mean is that at any point a bit of rain is possible. Highs on Sunday will only make it into the mid 40s.

The backdoor cold front will eventually lift to the north, but by that point the main cold front will be pushing in from the west Sunday night. The cold front will bring a steadier period of rain to the area Sunday night into Monday morning. The rain is expected to taper back to showers as Monday afternoon rolls around. Highs on Monday will be mild near 60 degrees.
