WILL PA RACE BE TIGHT AFTER ALL?
One new poll shows the presidential race has really tightened up in Pennsylvania, a departure from prior polls shows President Obama holding substantial leads. A poll commissioned by the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review has the president with 47 percent and Mitt Romney with 45. Is this is meaningful change? WFMZ’s Will Lewis talks to the experts at 5:00.
TANKER CRASH LEADS TO EVACUATIONS IN BUCKS:
A tanker truck carrying propane crashed this morning in Bucks County, and that led to a fire, and then to evacuations from homes and businesses within a one-mile radius of the scene in the Ottsville area of Tinicum Township. The tanker collided with a vehicle on Route 611 just before 8 a.m. and caught fire. One person was taken to the hospital. Route 611 was closed for most of the day. Dozens of people took shelter in a nearby church. WFMZ’s Jaccii Farris reports at 6:00.
FEDS PROBE CARBON MONOXIDE LEAK:
Federal investigators are assisting with the probe of a carbon monoxide leak at a warehouse in Northampton County. The federal safety agency OSHA is on the scene at the Trader Joe’s warehouse in East Allen Township to investigate the leak yesterday morning. 18 workers had to be hospitalized, but none was seriously hurt. Details at 6:00.
WHY HARRY IS IN TOWN:
Award-winning singer-actor Harry Connick, Jr. is in the Lehigh Valley, but he’s not the one in the spotlight. He’s here to help the young performers of the Pennsylvania Youth Theatre. They’ll be creating a stage version of “The Happy Elf,” a song Connick wrote that became a cartoon. “It’s going to be loud and fun,” Connick tells our Bo Koltnow.
