A woman has pleaded guilty to leaving her newborn baby to die in a toilet tank after giving birth to him in a local restaurant's bathroom. Amanda Hein's plea to a general murder charge is part of a deal in which the prosecution agrees to drop the death penalty. A jury trial will still happen to determine her degree of guilt. A fire broke out in wood shop class at Easton Area High School this morning, clearing the building of students and staff. The fire started in a booth that students use to spray paint metal objects, officials said. Apparently an exhaust fan backed up and fumes from the spray paint caught fire. No injuries were reported. Police are searching for a man they say was behind two shootings in the Poconos this week, both of them at hotels. They say Shicon Jamal Jordan fired shots at a car outside the Econo Lodge in Stroudsburg yesterday. The people in the car were okay. Police also say Jordan is a "person of interest" in connection with a shooting outside a Super Eight motel in East Stroudsburg on Tuesday. Story at 6:00.


Today is the 35th anniversary of the nuclear meltdown at Three Mile Island, a power plant near Harrisburg. The plant malfunctioned on this date in 1979, causing a partial meltdown of a reactor core and causing quite a scare. TMI is considered one of this country's worst nuclear accidents. Story at 6:00.

Lafayette beat Central Connecticut State to open up the season and equal the number of wins they had in 2015.  Since then, the Pards played two tough games, but fell to Delaware 24-6, and Princeton, 35-31.
