Musikfest food vendors battle it out for the Hungry Games trophy

38 vendors were asked to submit a signature dish

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - No Musikfest is complete without the food. Each year, dozens of vendors line the festival serving up their specialties and while the options seem endless, everyone has their favorite.

"It's such a great selection but my favorite is Aw Shucks, their corn is to die for," said one festival go-er.

"The Stuffed Pretzel, this is a ham and cheese in a stuffed pretzel it's amazing," said another Musikfest attendee.

This year festival go-ers can make their favorite foods known by voting in the first-ever Hungry Games competition. Each of the 38 food vendors were asked to submit their signature dish so people can try them and then vote for the best of the fest.

"We're asking people to go around and sample all of them and then go online and vote for their favorite," said ArtsQuest Spokesperson Mark Demko.

As the competition heats up, festival organizers say the goal of the contest is to highlight the different food options, many of which are local.

"A lot of people don't know this but actually about 85 percent of the vendors are from right here in the Lehigh Valley and surrounding region so this is a great way to promote local businesses as well," said Demko.

The winner of the inaugural Hungry Games gets a glass trophy.  May the odds be ever in your flavor.
