Reading Royals' mascot rallies rush hour drivers

ECHL team to host Kelly Cup playoff games at Santander Arena this week

READING, Pa. - Playoff fever is starting to spread across Berks County, as the Reading Royals make another run for the ECHL's Kelly Cup.

The Royals will play host to the Toledo Walley for the third and fourth games of the eastern conference quarterfinals at the Santander Arena on Tuesday and Wednesday.

During Monday morning's rush hour, Slapshot, the Royals' mascot, stationed himself on the Penn Street Bridge to rally commuters driving into center city.

Game-time both nights in Reading will be 7 p.m. Tickets are available on the Royals' website and at the Santander Arena box office on Penn Street.

The best-of-seven series is tied at one, with Reading winning the first game in Toledo on Friday and the Walleye evening things up on Saturday.

The Royals, an affiliate of the NHL's Philadelphia Flyers, won their first Kelly Cup in in the 2012-13 season.
