DOVER, Pa. - It smells like cookies when you step inside a small bakery in Dover, York Co.
The appealing aroma is the first thing you'll notice, but you might want to check the sign on the door before you take a bite because the treats aren't meant for you.
Instead of chocolate chip cookies in the oven, it's biscuits for your dog.
All the dog treats at Miss Lucy's are homemade and, honestly, smell and look delicious.
Owner Roxanne Gallagher told us she uses all natural ingredients.
Everything is made with people food, so you could take a bite if you are so inclined.
On the bakery's free tour, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at what it takes to bake between 1,200 to 1,500 biscuits every day.
A 14-year-old dalmatian that was rescued by the SPCA in 2000, Lucy comes up with most of the ideas.
Lucy seems to have a fondness for fruits and veggies and, every once in awhile, birthday cakes and whoopie pies.
By the end of the tour, you will be sampling. You don't have to actually take a bite out of one of the biscuits, but as Roxanne explained, what goes into the products she pulls out a tray full of flavors, and you get to sample some of the ingredients.
The bakery was born out of an uncertain circumstance.
Roxanne worked at Platzgraff for 29 years until the company was sold and moved out of town.
Without a job for the first time in almost three decades, she decided to take a chance and started baking for her pets.
The idea took off and now there's treat filled Easter baskets on the shelves.
