A Northampton County family has one wish for Christmas.
Their 8-year-old son, who is struggling with a rare kidney disease, needs a kidney donor.
The family is praying for a donor for him and for other kids who are fighting a life and death battle.
Aidan Conover looks like any other normal rambunctious 8-year-old.
But the truth is he is very sick.
Aidan has a rare kidney disease known as FSGS that scars the kidneys and if left untreated causes renal failure.
"Right now he is about 20 percent kidney function he is on the kidney transplant waiting list," said Aidan's mother Bobbi Conover.
That means Aidan needs to have both kidneys removed, go on dialysis and wait for a donor.
The Stockertown, Northampton County family goes twice a month to the Children's Hospital in Philadelphia for treatment.
Bobbi is doing her best to spread the word about this rare disease that strikes 5600 people a year.
Bobbi has started a Facebook page chronicling Aidan's health battles and showing pictures of moments when Aidan is able to forget he's not a normal healthy little boy.
Moments like kissing dolphins and crawling all over fire trucks.
But reality always comes back.
Aidan's illness has made him aware of the plight of other little kids.
"My one friend has diabetes and somebody else in my school has cancer,"said Aidan.
And while he is dreaming of some cowboy boots with spurs for Christmas..
Bobby has something else on her list.
"The Kidney. That's all I care about," said Bobbi.
Bobbi says she hopes people will see this story and contact CHOP to get tested to be a donor.
So maybe one day she will get her Christmas wish.
