Reading Hospital sets up off-campus flu clinic to ease strain on ER

Reading Hospital establishes flu clinic to ease ER cases

WEST READING, Pa. - Flu cases continue to take a toll on the Reading Hospital.

The hospital has established a flu clinic to cut back on the number of people going to the emergency department for treatment.

Patients who show up at the hospital with flu-like symptoms are bused to the hospital's "S" building for further diagnosis. Patients admitted from the clinic are then taken back to the emergency department.

Officials said doctors were seeing more than 100 patients with flu-like symptoms each day before establishing the clinic.

The hospital has also set up a flu hotline for people to call for more information. The hotline -- 484-628-1FLU (1358) -- is available Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.
