St. Joseph Medical Center goes online to answer flu questions

St. Joe's goes online to answer questions about flu

BERN TWP., Pa. - Doctors at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bern Township said the best shot at avoiding the flu is a flu shot.

The hospital on Thursday hosted a Google+ Hangouts on Air session in which a doctor talked about flu symptoms and offered tips for avoiding the flu.

Besides a shot, doctors said you should try to eat and sleep well during flu season and practice good hygiene.

The hospital is planning to hold an interactive discussion each month on various health topics.

"I think it's a wonderful thing to be able to transmit our information like this to the general public. They also get the opportunity to ask questions of the person right away and get the answers," said Amy Heins, infection control coordinator.

You can go to St. Joe's YouTube channel to watch Thursday's session or to join in future sessions.
