Drug Money Helps Pair Of Local Police Departments

Northampton county's top cop says it was a record year for drug forfeitures..and that's good news for two city police departments. District attorney john morganelli announced today that in the last fiscal year..his office has brought in 283-thousand dollars in property, cars and money seized during drug busts. So..he's giving 10-thousand dollars to both the easton and bethlehem police departments. Morganelli says the record year wouldn't have been possible without the work done by those two departments. Da john morganelli: "the credit for that goes to the bethlehem and easton police departments because we are not able to generate this money and take the profits from the drug dealers without the work of the police departments."

Morganelli also says the gang problem in the lehigh valley is fueled by the drug trade, so by cutting off the gang's profit..they will ultimately cut down on gang activity.
