Feeling tired, overworked, just plain stressed? Maybe you need a health makeover.
Expert Kim Wilson Pollock says even the simplest changes can make a difference. Her first tip: start each day with a glass of warm water with lemon.
"Warm water actually cleanses your lymphatic system and lemon helps your liver detoxify," explains health coach Kim Wilson Pollock.
Tip number two: eat more dark leafy greens. Kim says try to get some at every meal. Her favorite?
"Kale is the powerhouse of all dark, leafy greens. It has the most antioxidants, a ton of calcium. It actually has more calcium than beef," says Pollock.
You can juice it or make it into a salad by adding lemon and olive oil. Massaging the kale will make it softer.
Tip number three: drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar each day.
Pollock claims, "It can cure a cold, the flu, or a hangover. It helps detox the body."
You can shoot it straight or mix it with water or tea. Another good food to eat every day?
"Have you ever heard the phrase an apple a day keeps the doctor away?" asks Pollock. "It's totally true!"
The American Institute for Cancer Research added apples to its list of foods that fight cancer saying the vitamin C and fiber give this fruit cancer fighting abilities.
The last tip: eat whole grains daily. They're packed with enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, but be careful when choosing your grain.
Pollock says, "The most important part of buying whole grains is that it's one ingredient, it's just the whole grain."
Spices can also rev up your health.
Capsaicin, the main ingredient in chili peppers, can relieve pain, improve heart health, and fight prostate cancer.
Cinnamon can keep your arteries healthy, manage blood sugar levels, and lower cholesterol.
Turmeric can reduce inflammation in arthritis patients and may block the formation of some cancers.
