Chef Joe Wickel, a cooking instructor at Lehigh Carbon Community College, shows off how to make a homemade deep dish pizza that's better than takeout, and can be whipped up in only 30 minutes.

Uncle Joe’s Deep–Dish Pizza with Spicy Turkey and Mozzarella

• 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
• 1 1/2 pounds store–bought pizza dough, at room temperature
• ½ cup pizza sauce
• 2 ½ cups shredded mozzarella
• ½ pound ground turkey
• 2 tablespoons white chicken chili powder

Heat oven to 400 degrees F with a rack in the lowest position, Coat a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with 1 tablespoon of the oil.

Mix white chicken chili powder with turkey, mix thoroughly

Press the dough into the pan, covering the bottom and sides. Top the dough with the sauce, turkey, cheese then, do 2nd layer with turkey and cheese. Drizzle with the remaining 1 tablespoon of oil.

Bake at 400F for the 1st 10 minutes, then reduce heat to 325 F and cook for another 15-20 minutes till crust is golden brown and the turkey is cooked through.

Keep a close eye on the crust

Let pizza rest for 5 minutes before serving
