Wear Red Day

You may have noticed by our anchors' attire Friday morning -- it's National Wear Red Day.

Many of our staff members here at WFMZ are wearing red to raise awareness about women's heart disease.

It's all a part of the 'Go Red for Women' campaign which is sponsored by the American Heart Association.

Heart disease is the number one killer of women.

Each year, on the first Friday in February, millions of women and men come together to wear red, take action and commit to fighting this deadly disease.

In the 10 years since the first Go Red For Women day, tremendous strides have been made in the fight against heart disease in women, according to the American Heart Association:

All funds raised by the Go Red For Women campaign aides the AHA in providing educational programs for women and support research on heart disease.
