Reporter | Jim Vasil joined 69 News as a Berks Edition Reporter in June 2016. 

A native of Burlington County, New Jersey, Jim reports in the news market he grew up watching. He comes to WFMZ-TV from Time Warner Cable News in Albany, NY where he was a Multi-Media Journalist. He was responsible for their Western Massachusetts bureau while also reporting news in the NY Capital Region. He played a large role in their coverage of several U.S. Federal Court cases as well as the 2015 Travers Stakes, where Triple Crown-winning racehorse American Pharoah drew a record crowd at Saratoga Race Course. His November 2015 story about a 5-year-old boy with cancer being sworn in as an honorary police officer in MA was distributed to news outlets around the world via CNN Newsource.

Jim holds a BA in Radio and Television from Rider University, where he was Co-Journalist of the Year in 2013 and the recipient of the prestigious Frederick L. Ferris Award for Excellence in Journalism. He was also a member of the National Broadcasting Society throughout college and took home the Grand Prize for Video News Package at the 2014 NBS Awards. He went on to be a speaker at the 2016 NBS Conference in Hollywood, CA.
