LANCASTER TWP., Pa. -

A party honoring one of our past presidents drew quite a crowd in Lancaster County today.

A ceremony was held Thursday morning to mark the release of the presidential coin of the only U.S. president from Pennsylvania, James Buchanan.

It's the current president's catch phrase. "We need change. Real change."

But only a past president can fill that order without a lengthy political debate. President James Buchanan now has his own change, spare change, one buck for the Commander-In-Chief nicknamed "Old Buck."

Don Walters portrays Pennsylvania's only president at Buchanan's Lancaster County home. It was a fitting setting for the official unveiling of the James Buchanan Presidential $1 coin.

History will tell you it's also a fitting tribute. Developing a standard U.S. currency was a hot topic back in Buchanan's day.

In the debate over coin versus paper, Buchanan also campaigned for change.

"To really speak about being a hard currency man meant he was supporting the gold standard that would be behind all of our currency." Walters said.

The current Congress approved the Presidential Dollar Coin Program in 2005. The 15th president is the 15th coin to be issued since then.

But Washington shouldn't worry.

"It's a matter of the will of the people," said Andrew Brunhart, Deputy Director of the U.S. Mint. "Americans are a country of habit. We have our ways and right now, we have a preference for the paper bill, but we're getting used to the coin. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"

Kids got a coin for free at Thursday's event. Grown ups, they had to wait in line. Many said it was worth the wait.

"I've never been to an event like this." said Mike Noble or Hanover.

Noble says he's been collecting coins since he was a kid. "It's just a way of keeping track of our history."

Stimulating the current economy was the focus of Matthew Maningen of Mountville, who was anxious to put his coin into circulation.

"We got free money," he said.
