19-yr-old killed in Upper Nazareth tractor trailer accident

UPPER NAZARETH TWP., Pa. - A teenager has been killed in a crash between his SUV and the tractor of a tractor trailer.

Matthew Deery, 19, of Alpha, New Jersey, died Wednesday afternoon in a crash shortly after 4 p.m. in the 3000 block of Newburg Road in Upper Nazareth Twp., the Northampton County coroner said.

Deery's SUV and the truck, which was not carrying a trailer at the time, collided, Upper Nazareth Police said.  The truck went off the road pulling utility lines with it.  Dozens of Met-Ed customers lost power from the crash.  The outage was expected to last overnight.

Deery's death has been ruled accidental.  He died from multiple injuries sustained in the crash, the coroner said.

Newburg Road is expected to be closed until 6 a.m. Thursday, police said.
