2 found dead in home owned by wife of prominent Republican

The news at 5:00 with a developing story in Lehigh County.

WENDY DAVIS: Investigators say two people have been found dead inside a home in Upper Macungie Township. That home is owned by the wife of prominent local Republican and entrepreneur Charles Snelling.

ROB VAUGHN: Let's head to Will Lewis at the scene on Church Street with the latest.

Lehigh County coroner Scott Grimm is not releasing the names of the deceased pending notification of family members.

REPORTER A Berks-Lehigh police cruiser and special response unit were some of the last vehicles at 1280 Church street in Upper Macungie Township, Lehigh County. Investigators are being very tight lipped about what they found in the home.

PETE According to Lehigh County coroner Scott Grimm, his office was called to the home around nine this morning. When they arrived two people were found dead in the home. Property tax records show the home is owned by Adrienne Snelling, wife of well known Republican Charles Snelling. Websites list Charles Snelling as the chairman of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority in Washington D.C. Snelling first served on the board in 2003 after he was nominated by President George W. Bush. Snelling is also the holder of 20 patents and was a former president of Allentown city council, according to his online biography.

Investigators tell us they are working with the Lehigh County district attorney's office on this case.
