3 Allentown police officers sent to hospital following shootout with man

Gunman flees the area; still at large

Search for the gunman continues

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - A shoot-out in Allentown sent three police officers to the hospital.  The hunt for the suspect is on.

It all started when police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the first block of North Third Street around 3 p.m. Tuesday.  People living around the area say it was a scary scene.

A neighborhood was on edge after police say Del Robyn Fenty started shooting at officers.

"Numerous shots were fired, our officers returned a couple of shots," said Allentown Police Chief Roger MacLean. "The suspect then fled the residence."

Police searched the area looking for Fenty.

According to MacLean, three officers were transported to Sacred Heart Hospital.

One was treated for a cut, scrape or bruise to his arm, another for a cut or scrape to his ear, and the third officer was uninjured.  All were treated and released.

"They say this is a bad area, but for something like this to happen," asked Aaron Jimenez, who lives a block away from where the shooting took place. "They got the whole police force coming down here. It's horrible."

"They just basically told us that he's not around," said a woman who wishes to remain anonymous but lives across the street from where the shooting took place.
"Pretty much we see he's still around because they still haven't left the area."

Police want to make sure everyone gets a look at 41-year-old Del Robyn Fenty.

They say he's 5 feet 9 inches t all, 140 pounds and should be considered dangerous.

"Definitely considered armed," added MacLean. "He was seen fleeing the area and may have had something in his waistband."

Chief MacLean tells us he is not releasing the names of the injured officers at this time.

When asked about finding Fenty, MacLean said, "We know who he is and we're going to get him."
