Jacobsburg Historical Society offers a glimpse of life in the 1800s

Stepping back in history

BUSHKILL TWP., Pa. - Ever wonder what life was like in the 1800s? You can see for yourself this weekend in Northampton County.

Step back into history with the Jacobsburg Historical Society

It's the annual Rendezvous and Market Faire at 402 Henry Road in Bushkill Twp.

Dozens of re-enactors dress up and camp for the weekend as if they were back in the 1800s: no electricity, no running water, just fires for heat and cooking.

The public can visit with the "campers" to see how they lived hundreds of years ago.

There is also a market with crafts and goods. You can also try your hand at throwing a tomahawk and many other activities of the old days.

You can also tour the John Joseph Henry House, Pennsylvania Longrifle Museum, and more!

The Rendezvous and Market Fair is Saturday, October 26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Tickets are $5. Children 12 and under or in a Scouts uniform are free.
