Agency works to combat rising forms of addiction

WYOMISSING, Pa. -

The Council on Chemical Abuse is shining a spotlight on types of addiction that are becoming more prevalent.

The group said drug and alcohol addictions are still the most common problems people in Berks County are facing, but the group on Thursday gave information to authorities and counselors about types of addiction that are becoming more commonplace in our area, like food, sex and gambling addictions.

"Our arenas of addiction are getting much larger, and the more we know about addiction, the more we understand that it enters into other aspects of our life," said George Vogel Jr., Council on Chemical Abuse.

The Council on Chemical Abuse works with addicts to help them pick the best paths for recovery.
