ALLENTOWN, Pa. -

Police are investigating the death of a five-week-old baby girl in Allentown.

A 69 News crew on the scene observed a woman, accompanied by police, going into a house in the 700 block of North 5th Street Thursday evening.

She left the home a few minutes later screaming, "That's my granddaughter. "That's my granddaughter."

Police said they were called to the home just before 5:00. They said the baby was pronounced dead shortly after she was transported to the hospital.

"All we have is that Allentown EMS responded to this address," said Capt. Dean Schwartz of the Allentown Police Department.

Police told 69 News the address is a busy apartment building, but they would not say who called 911 or what was reported.

They also would not say whether there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the baby's death.

Police and the coroner are required to investigate the death of any infant.

An autopsy performed Friday was inconclusive. The cause and manner of death are pending the results of further tests.
