Berks native Lutz promoted to NY Mets
Today Governor Mifflin grad and Alvernia product Zach Lutz getting the call that every baseball player dreams of....pack your bags, you're going to the Big Leagues.
Lutz, who played in the Lehigh Valley last night against he IronPigs, has been promoted from the Triple "A" Buffalo Bisons to the New York Mets.
Lutz gets the promotion after the Mets placed outfielder Jason Bay on the Disabled List with a broken rib.
In 19 games with the Bisons, Lutz is hitting 333 with three homers, and 10 RBI.
Believe it or not Zach wasn't the first one in his family to find out. He was at a Funeral in Boyertown this afternoon, and had his phone off.
His dad , Yogi Lutz, Alvernia's head baseball coach found out first, thanks a barrage of Congratulatory emails , around 1:15pm.
He called Zach and got voicemail.
Zach finally got the news around 2pm and rushed back to the Lehigh Valley to get his gear and head to New York City.
And even in the midst of one of the biggest days of his life...Zach was playing it cool according to dad.
