Charter schools future in question

COOLBAUGH TWP., Pa. -

The future of a Monroe County charter school is in question.

The Pocono Mountain School Board voted last night to close the Pocono Mountain Charter School in Coolbaugh Township.

The district says it plans to appeal a decision from the state board of education that allowed the school to stay open.

The district is pushing this issue because of a report from state Auditor Jack Wagner.

He alleges that the school funneled some $3 million in taxpayer money to a church the school rents space from.

The school says the allegations are unfounded.
