Chicken BBQ, Blood Drive In Wyomissing
Everyone picking up some chicken barbecue in Wyomissing, Berks County had a chance to lend a hand to the Miller-Keystone Blood Center.
The bloodmobile was near a chicken dinner sale on Old Mill Road looking for blood donors to help replenish supplies.
Officials said there's always a drop in blood donations in the summer because of the heat, people's vacation plans, and because schools aren't in session.
"We are in a crisis right now with extreme low levels of blood supply," said Michele Zurawski of Miller-Keystone. "This happens pretty much every Labor Day. It's the highest traffic accident holiday of the year, so we fall to these levels."
Officials with Miller Keystone said they need to see 450 donors each day to supply 21 hospitals in our community.
