Officials in the Poconos are looking for more resources to help sexually abused children.

They're creating a child advocacy center in Monroe County.

Children in the Poconos have been utilizing a child advocacy center in Scranton.

But conditions are changing.

"As they disclose more and in our community as it becomes something that's less taboo and more talked about and people are believing the need is just greater," said executive director of the Women's Resources of Monroe County Jane Koelble.

Women’s Resources of Monroe County is working on the project along with local law enforcement officials and the Pocono Medical Center.

Organizers have applied for an $80,000 state planning grant to hire a coordinator to further develop the project.

They're also holding a fundraiser for the advocacy center next month, September 12th, at the Siamsa Irish Pub in Stroudsburg.
