Christie vetoes same-sex marriage bill
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has followed through on his promise to veto a bill legalizing same-sex marriage in the state.
The Republican governor returned the bill to the state legislature Friday afternoon.
Christie says he wants voters to decide whether New Jersey will allow same sex couples to marry.
Opponents say it's a civil rights issue and it shouldn't be up for a public vote.
Democrats would need two-thirds' votes in the state Assembly and Senate to override Christie's veto.
