Fallen Deputy's Family Thankful For Community's Support
Deputy Kyle Pagerly's parents and pregnant widow said the outpouring of community support has been overwhelming and Friday, they came out to give their thanks.
"He's always been a hero to me, but to see this many people call him a hero, everything," said Pagerly's wife, Alecia, who added that she has been touched by all the people who have offered to take care of Jynx, Pagerly's K9 partner, and her family. "Everybody is taking care of the baby. I'm just overwhelmed."
"There's so many people to thank," said Pagerly's father, David. "We just want everyone to know that we are a grateful family for the outpouring of support we received from the community."
David Pagerly said he will be honoring his son's memory by participating in the Boy Scout Explorer post program Kyle wanted to start.
"We, as a family, are going to keep his memory alive by continuing his work," said David Pagerly.
The money raised by memorial T-shirt sales will go to Pagerly's charities, including the Animal Rescue League.
"Very involved in was the Animal Rescue League," said David. "As a matter of fact, we found out he was there at least once, twice or three times a week. And he would just make a lap through there, check in on dogs and animals just to make sure they were okay."
Kyle was generous. His family is generous, and they're so grateful for the community's generosity.
"Thank you," said Alecia. "I can't say thank you enough. Every time I turn around I feel like somebody else is surprising me with something so generous."
Alecia said Kyle wouldn't believe it. He wouldn't want it. He was so humble about everything he did.
"It's just sad that he did so much in 28 years, he could have done so many more things," said Alecia.
