FLEETWOOD, Pa. -

An elementary school in Fleetwood Area School District may be shut down.

School board members talked Tuesday night about possibly closing Richmond Elementary School to save money in their upcoming budget.

One board member says cuts in state funding may force their hand.

"It gets to a point in the economic situation right now where you have to examine the cost of operating the building and possibly condensing programs, classes into another building that's more practical," said Tom Prachar of the Fleetwood Area School Board.

The school board is also considering changing the district's full-day kindergarten program to a half-day.
