Former Penn State president arraigned in Sandusky scandal

Former Penn State University President Graham Spanier was arraigned Wednesday morning on charges he helped to cover up allegations that Jerry Sandusky was sexually abusing boys on campus.

Spanier was fired in November 2011 when the scandal broke, and was charged last week with obstruction of justice, conspiracy, endangering the welfare of children, failure to report a crime and perjury. He had been Penn State's president for about 16 years.

District Judge William Wenner set his bail at $125,000 unsecured -- meaning he won't have to pay any unless he fails to show up for future court dates -- and the judge ordered that Spanier not leave the state of Pennsylvania without permission.

Spanier, former athletic director Tim Curley and ex-Vice President Gary Schultz all face charges stemming from the Sandusky scandal. Curley and Schultz were arraigned Friday.
