Genocide survivor shares her story
Genocide survivor speaks at Albright
A woman who survived one of the worst genocides in recent history is sharing her story with local students.
Eugenie Mukeshimana spoke at Albright College Tuesday afternoon.
She survived the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
Seven years later she moved to the U.S. to start a new life but she says it's important that people don't forget her country's past.
"It's better to know what the history has been so that we can not hopefully repeat the same history in the future," she said.
Since moving to the U.S she's also funded a nonprofit organization to help genocide survivors.
