A Monroe County race track will stay silent for the rest of the year, after an explosive fire Saturday evening. The fire broke out at around 5:00 p.m. in a building near the gas pumps in front of Borger's Speedway in Saylorsburg. According to speedway officials, the last race of the season was supposed to be Saturday night; but it was postponed due to rain, leaving the track's grandstands empty. On Sunday, the race was cancelled. The grandstands and track were untouched by the intense flames, which witnesses said they could see from at least a mile away. The State Police Fire Marshal's Office in Hazleton, Luzerne County is investigating the fire. Borger's Speedway is located just off of Old Route 115 in Saylorsburg. A downsized version of the old Nazareth Speedway, it opened in 1999.
