A Lehigh County judge is mulling a request from a man who admitted to killing and dismembering his girlfriend.
A hearing was held Tuesday for William Ward, of Bethlehem. He filed a document to withdraw his guilty plea for the murder of Trisha Sadler.
Police found Sadler's dismembered body in plastic bags inside Ward's home in 2011. He pleaded guilty but mentally ill in October and was sentenced to life in prison.
Now, Ward is arguing that he entered that plea because his attorney told him that was his only option.
The judge will have to decide if Ward can stand trial. He said he will issue his ruling at a later date.
