Local group wins Grammy award

A message of hope is the tune that carried a Bethlehem woman and her musical co-horts all the way to the Grammy stage.

The Bucks County musical producing team is made up of Steve Pullara, Kevin Mackie, Patrick Robinson, Jim Cravero and Bethlehem's own Gloria Domina. All but Robinson recently returned from Los Angeles, California and the Grammy awards.

The team won for best children's album. The 37 track album was a compilation of the famous and not-so-famous.

"Vini Lopez of the E-Street band played the drums," Cravero said from his Warminster recording studio.

The songs tell the story of how kids can deal with bullying.

The crew, who was nominated for a Grammy last year, said some of the members dealt with these same issues as kids.

They say every lyric of every song was approved by three different children's psychologists.

"To have kids, teachers, psychologists calling us and saying, 'you know what, this is great what do you think about this?' It's really want we want to do," Pullara said.

Lest you think these guys are getting rich of this Grammy, think all again. One hundred percent of the proceeds are going to anti-bullying charity.

But that's not to say winning a Grammy isn't pretty cool.

"All of a sudden you're on the same level as these people you've read about your whole life. It's pretty amazing and neat," Robinson said.

From the studio to hopefully the hearts of kids, it's music to these musicians ears.
