Local hospital among tops in US in cardiovascular care

BERN TWP., Pa. -

One of Berks County's hospitals has received a major distinction.

St. Joseph Medical Center in Bern Township has been named one of the top cardiovascular hospitals in the U.S. by Thomson Reuters.

Saint Joe's was one of 50 hospitals to receive the high marks. More than 1,000 hospitals were considered.

The top 50 ranked the highest in survival rates, and they had fewer patients re-admitted after 30 days.
