COALDALE, Pa. -

A local mayor has found himself in trouble with the law following an alleged search for child pornography on a work computer.

An arrest warrant was issued Thursday for Richard Corkery, the mayor of Coaldale, Schuylkill County, on 28 counts of possession of child pornography, according to a news release issued by the Carbon County District Attorney's office.

The Nesquehoning Police Department launched an investigation in early April into allegations that Corkery downloaded and viewed child pornography on his computer at a radio station where he works in Carbon County.

An examination of the computer revealed a number of pictures of naked underage boys, officials said.

Corkery was scheduled to turn himself in to authorities for his preliminary arraignment on the criminal charges at the office of Magisterial District Justice Casimir Kosciolek later Thursday.
