Officials are applauding the first deployment of a new street-crimes task force in Luzerne County.

The Mobile Street Crimes Unit is comprised of state drug agents who work with members of the local police force.

Its goal is to pool several resources to more-effectively target drug trafficking and gang activity.

During the unit's time in Hazleton, State Attorney General Kathleen Kane says it confiscated a large amount of drugs and weapons and made more than 100 arrests.

The unit's time in Hazleton is over.

Officials say it will now move on to a new, anonymous location.
