New Jersey utilities are taking some heat for their response to Hurricane Sandy.

The president of New Jersey's board of public utilities has given power companies an "F" for their communication with customers and mayors.

Regulators and power company officials testified today during a state Senate committee hearing on the utilities' response.

Regulators say utilities need better methods of telling customers about their power problems.
