Redner's Warehouse Markets is celebrating the launch of a new logo.

Store officials said the move will help local farmers.

And they said customers may see savings at the checkout.

Redner's said it's looking to go local when it comes to serving its customers.

"Part of our marketing program is to promote local products," said Eric White, Redner's spokesman.

And to make sure more shoppers are in the know, Redner's launched a new logo, Bountiful Berks.

The logo is already on corn, mushrooms, and a host of other produce, dairy, and meat products.

Officials said by going local they save on shipping products cross country, and they said those savings should show up at the checkout.

"That product getting from the beginning stages to the end consumer is so much less than if your buying something from another state or another country," said White. "The price points on it are going to be reflective of that.

Fruit from Lee Spencer's farm will also receive the Bountiful Berks logo.

"People, the local people, have a good handle on how our food is grown," said Spencer. "They can even drive by and watch us grow it because we're there, everyday, 24-7, doing it."

In keeping with the local theme, the Bountiful Berks logo was designed by Conrad Weiser graduate Nathaniel Renninger.

He's already designed the logo for the Western Berks Regional Police Department.

For the Bountiful Berks logo, he researched everything from the number of farmers in Berks County to what they produce.

"And now," said Renninger, "when I look into a store, I buy my favorite drink, Icy Tea, and I can see what I did on the actual bottle. I think it's amazing."

Redner's is a member of the Berks Agricultural Resource Network, or BARN, a requirement to carry the Bountiful Berks logo.
