A new bill being considered in Harrisburg would allow more cities to be eligible for a state redevelopment program.

The bill by State Representative Robert Freeman would allow cities with populations of 20,000 people to apply for the City Revitalization and Improvement Zone, or "CRIZ," program.

As of now, only cities with more than 30,000 people can apply.

Other cities, including Allentown, have instituted these types of improvement zones, which officials say spur economic development and create jobs.
