New truck to help food bank collect more donations

SPRING TWP., Pa. -

The Greater Berks Food Bank has a new set of wheels.

The food bank received a grant from Walmart to purchase a refrigerated truck.

Crews were busy using the truck at the West Lawn United Methodist's community center in Spring Township on Thursday.

It's the food bank's fourth truck, and officials said it will be put to good use.

"The truck is going to allow us not only to keep up with the demand and distribution, but also to go out to more food donors and collect more food donations," said Doug Long.

Officials said the food bank has been doing a lot of expanding lately, especially in the Schuylkill County area.
