Officials from both Baltimore and Bucks County are speaking out about why an alleged killer was released from jail.

Bucks County D.A. David Heckler says the Baltimore City Jail released Dale Wakefield Thursday.

Wakefield allegedly stabbed homeless military veteran George Mohr to death outside the Doylestown train station last week.

Police say he fled to Baltimore where he was later arrested but he was then mistakenly released from the jail and recaptured hours later.

The Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services says that if proper procedures were followed by all involved agencies Wakefield would not have been released.

It did not elaborate on which agency may not have followed protocol.

D.A. Heckler says there is "no acceptable answer" as to why Wakefield was released.
