Pennsylvania Turnpike officials have started work on a major connection.

Crews have started the first phase of a project that will connect the turnpike with I-95 in Bucks County near Bensalem.

The work will be funded by tolls and federal grants.

Crews will build a new toll facility, and they'll widen the highway.

Officials say the project will improve traffic flow and economic growth.

Phase One is slated to wrap up in 2018.
