Plans unveiled for Penn St. Bridge
The Penn Street Bridge in Reading will be getting some much needed TLC.
PennDOT showed off preliminary plans to rehabilitate the 100 year-old bridge Wednesday night at Reading Area Community College.
The plan aims to keep historical features of the bridge in place while still fixing structural issues.
Officials say three lanes of traffic will remain open at all times during the rehabilitation.
But they say the ramp from 422 West onto the bridge will be closed.
PennDOT officials say construction is expected to start in 2015 as long as work on the Buttonwood Street Bridge is finished.
The project is expected to last for about 2 years.
