Police in Sinking Spring are stepping up patrols after a rash of vandalism. Someone has been using a BB gun to shoot out car windows for the past week and police want answers.

"We woke up that morning and it was not a great feeling knowing where we live. I am like, that kind of stuff does not normally happen around here," said Sinking Spring resident Jonathan Drexler.

Jonathan Drexler lives in the 1500 block of Huron Drive in Sinking Spring. While his friend was visiting last week, someone managed to shoot out his friend's window with a BB gun.

"You move away from troubled areas so you do not have to deal with this stuff and here it is," said Drexler.

Drexler's friend was one of the seven people who fell victim to vehicle vandalisms.

Tom Ellwanger's vehicle was also hit.

"Oh no, you know it is just a big inconvenience, until you call the insurance agent, until you call the company, until you call the police and then you have to set it up to get it repaired," said Sinking Spring resident Tom Ellwanger.

Police believe they are looking for more than one vandal.

"In my experience, I would probably say it is more than one. They get the feel, the thrill of damaging someone else's property," said Sinking Spring Police Chief Lee Schweyer.

Police say they are not sure if it is kids making mischief close to Halloween or something more serious.

"I am hoping it is just kids," said Drexler.

But the chief is ready for this vandalism spree to end.

"We want to put a stop to this. It is enough. I do not want to see the reports on my desk. I want it stopped," said Schweyer.

If you have any information about this vandalism spree call Crime Alert Berks County at (877) 373-9913. A cash reward will be given for information that leads to an arrest.
