Poll: Voters think NJ gov. will take #2 spot on GOP ticket
There's talk that New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is considering joining Mitt Romney's ticket in the vice president's spot.
Christie has recently been campaigning for Romney, which has fueled the speculation.
According to a new Quinnipiac poll, New Jersey voters think it's likely he will get the nod for number two
"I don't think he has enough experience yet," said Charlie Sladek.
"He has done nothing for New Jersey, so I don't see him doing anything for the United States either," said Sherry Hoffman.
"Romney and Christie would be somebody I could live with," said Joe Meyner.
According to the poll, 55 percent think Christie is likely going to be the running mate for Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
But on MSNBC Wednesday morning, Christie said while he is campaigning for Romney heavily, he doesn't think he will get the VP invite.
"I don't think I am the type of personality who is going to be asked to be vice president by anybody," said Christie.
Sixty-eight percent of New Jersey voters polled agree with Christie on the issue of personality, which Christie said is strong.
"He's telling it like it is, and some people they don't like that. They like to be snowed," said Sladek.
"I think it would be a little more politically wise of him to wait a few years and get a whole term as governor in so he really knows what he is doing," said Meyner.
Half way through his first term, Christie has a 54 percent approval rating among those polled.
Christie said he's going to hang on to his current job, and should it come to it, support whoever Romney picks as vice president.
"I am going to be able to help Governor Romney by being the governor of New Jersey, doing the best I can," said Christie, who is expected to campaign for Romney in South Carolina next.
